If Chivalry Is Dead, Feminism Killed It

Ladies, beware of being a fake Feminist when:

  1. The bill arrives – If he pays, that’s expected. If he doesn’t, he is inconsiderate
  2. A lady is waiting in a long queue with other men – If they move you up in the line, that’s expected. If they don’t, they are rude
  3. A female hits a man – If he hits back in defense, he is unstable. If he doesn’t, that’s expected
  4. There is an unreasonable argument – If he lets you have your way, that’s expected. If he tries to reason with you, he is imposing
  5. Worrying about the future – If he is the one to worry, that’s expected. If he expects you to, he is irresponsible

Guys, similarly, be careful of your expectations from the other gender on topics like –

  1. Dressing up – If she does, that’s expected. If she doesn’t, she is a lazy piece
  2. Cooking food – If she does, that’s expected. If she doesn’t, she is high-maintenance
  3. Uncompromising about career – If she is, she is too ambitious. If she isn’t, that’s expected
  4. Loving children – If she does, that’s expected. If she doesn’t, she is not normal
  5. Remembering dates/anniversaries – If she does, that’s expected. If she doesn’t, she lacks emotions

In so many ways, our own cultural prejudices make us biased against the opposite gender. It is important to react consciously to these beliefs. Learning to respect ‘Individuality’ and being a Humanitarian is much more important than Feminism or Sexism.

  1. I agree with all of your points, except when you said being a humanitarian is more important than feminism or sexism. The terms feminism and sexism allow us to give the problems of women’s oppression and identity within a patriarchal system a name. They help us to identify that a problem exists, and organize people to solve that problem. Egalitarianism or humanitarianism (of which there are several different doctrines) are the end goal. But we can’t achieve equality until we acknowledge how we are not equal.
